So how do you know if your market is one where tons of potential clients are lining up to spend their money? Whether you’re beginning to stretch your online entrepreneurial legs or just want a fresh change of scenery, I’ve got a few tips for you to use to determine if your niche is profitable – so you can start raking in the green!
Get down to the basics. Marketing research doesn’t have to be complicated. The first step towards finding a niche where there’s tons of money to be made is to go to the search engines. Type in your intended market and see what pops up in the results page. Is your potential product or service offered for dirt cheap – or worse, free? If so, scrap that idea: if your potential clients can get something for free, there’s absolutely no way they’ll fork over money for your product.
Check out Ebay. Want to find out which markets have their clients whipping out their credit cards? Check out sites like Ebay, where you can easily see what is flying off the shelves – and for how much. It stands to reason that the more products being offered and sold in a particular market, the more money its clients are willing to spend!
Look at sponsored links. It’s back to the search engines again! You know how when you search a particular word, phrase or service, a bunch of sponsored ads pop up to the side of your results? These ads are a great way to gauge the kind of money that’s being spent in your desired market. Watch these ads very closely for the next few weeks; have they changed at all? If they haven’t, congratulations: you’ve hit upon a niche where there’s still tons of profit to be made. If the ads have changed or disappeared, chances are that these entrepreneurs have made all the money they could and have moved on to more profitable markets.
There are tons of research methods that are all viable ways of determining whether or not your marketing niche will be profitable. Regardless of how simple these methods can be, never jump into a niche without doing at least some amount of research. After all, as an intrepid internet marketer, your time is worth loads of green – so don’t lose money by investing in a market where there’s none to be made!
