Mike Rowe is the face and voice behind a wildly successful television show called “Dirty Jobs”. In each episode Mike travels to out of the way places where individuals have made a living from doing things no one else wants to do. This could be cleaning barnacles off buoys. It could be making sausage or cleaning the sewer. You might see him wrangle an ostrich or work in a sewer treatment facility. Mike has made a living highlighting businesses that require special entrepreneurs.
Why do I bring this up? Well, this television show can be a perfect program to watch if you are looking to develop a unique moneymaking idea for yourself. No, I’m not necessarily suggesting you wrangle ostriches, but if you watch long enough you may be inspired by the elements it takes to develop a business idea that relies on creatively by tackling things others just don’t want to do.
It could be a job where you’ll get dirty, but it doesn’t have to be. You just need to be very aware that somewhere in your sphere of influence you will find something that no one else is doing, but individuals have an interest in seeing it done.
This will vary from town to town and region to region. Virtually every idea has moneymaking potential, but you need to work to identify the idea and then convince others they should hire you to take care of the need.
Obviously this article is aimed at those looking at providing a service, but many of the principles will also work in a retail environment.
There will always be services you can develop that come into existence because others either do not have the skills or have absolutely no interest in learning those skills. You can capitalize on the hesitancy in others.
We’ve all heard someone older than ourselves say, “Hard work never hurt anybody.” In many cases your hard work can carve out a moneymaking idea that can result in a part or full time job that enhances your personal bank account while meeting the demand of the public at large.
There are many very rich individuals who arrived at that place because they were willing to do what others were not. It didn’t take a cast iron stomach either. It took the calm assurance that they had a family who needed them to make a living. In some cases the motivation really was as simple as that.
If you were to go back to the humble beginnings of many of these businesses you would likely find that it was desperation and need that caused the owner to ‘stumble’ into the business they now own.
In times of economic chaos it is easy to find creativity to be a potent ally in making ends meet. It is during those times that uncalloused hands may find blisters and a paycheck to be a perfect payment for an innovative business idea.
Moneymaking ideas are the desired end for almost anyone who has to pay bills. Think outside the box and dream unusual dreams. Then do something no one else expects. You may have the makings of a brilliant moneymaking idea.
